known as one half of the Grammy Award Winning Multi-platinum hip hop
group “DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince” (The other half being better
known as Will Smith) DJ Jazzy Jeff is one of the pioneers of hip hop
and turntablism.
.........Jazzy Jeff “The Magnificent” as he is known to be called is arguably the inventor of the scratch technique known as “The Transformer” and inventor of the “Chirp scratch” two of the earliest tricks of the DJ trade and they helped to win him the DMC Championship title in 1986 |

that year he met Will Smith at a Philadelphia house party and the chemistry
was instant. They shared the same sense of humor and began to put that
to records teaming up to record Will Smiths first single “Girls Ain’t
Nothing But Trouble” ......... Jeff and Will then went on to sign to JIVE records and release their first album Rock the House which is a landmark in Hip-Hop Music. It featured the first song dedicated to the DJ (“the Magnificent Jazzy Jeff”) which was the first time the Transformer and Chirp Scratches were recorded The album also featured “A Touch of Jazz” Which was the first time Jazz and Hip hop were fused together in a record. The album went Gold and was one of the first hip-hop albums to go mainstream. |

1988 they followed up with the album He’s the DJ I’m the Rapper with
the hugely successful single “Parents Just Don’t Understand” winning
the first Grammy Award ever presented in the Hip Hop category.
.........From there DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh prince continued to produce music and hit the charts with hits such as “Summertime’ “Boom Shake the Room” and begin a legacy on their TV Show “The Fresh Prince of Bel Air” which Jeff appeared on as Will’s sidekick “Jazz” for 6 seasons. .........Jeff continues to advance the art of turntablism and tour the globe as he keeps producing for artists under his Touch of Jazz record label such as the Grammy award winning Jill Scott, Michael Jackson, Lil Kim Musiq, Floetry, City High, Dave Hollister, and continues his work with his partner Will Smith as well as his solo projects such as his release last year “The Magnificent” .........
