.

...........Verve PR. : COTTON USA brought the five finalists from the “2011 COTTON USA Design Challenge and their “Hollywood Movie Inspired” fashion creations to the runway at the “2011 Cotton Day” event in Bangkok . The five young Thai designers created “ready –to-wear” and “ready-to-wear couture” outfits by using 100 percent cotton fabrics manufactured in Thailand by COTTON USA licensed mills. Thailand’s leading models like Ms. Neeranat Victoria Cotes, Ms. Sririta Jensen, Ms. Namthip Jongrachatawiboon, Ms. Karnklao Duaysienklao and Ms. Iwarin Osathanon will present the outfits.
...........Mr. Kraipob Pangsapa, COTTON USA Thailand Representative, said that “Cotton Day” is an event to celebrate the importance of “cotton” as consumer and environment-friendly natural fiber. In cooperation with the Thai textile industries, COTTON USA brought five talented young designers from the “2011 COTTON USA Design Challenge” to present their “Hollywood Movie Inspired” fashion creations at the event. All contestants were challenged to incorporate 100% cotton knit, woven and denim fabrics supplied to them.
...........This year contest is significant since all contestants have to apply three different types of cotton fabrics to create actual outfits. The winner together with the first and the second runners up will receive scholarships, trophies, honorable certificates and the dream prize – the “U.S. Cotton Fashion Inspired Trip” to New York City and Hollywood. This prize is considered to be the best a young fashion designer can experience as they will be attending fashion shows at the New York Fashion Week, visit leading fashion companies, get to walk the Hollywood stars and visit a real cotton farm in California.
...........Mr. Kraipob added, “It is honorable for COTTON USA to make all sectors recognize young Thai designers‘ capability and creativity that are outstanding and of world class standards. COTTON USA is also proud to contribute and educate new talents to the fashion industry that will help benefit the development and competitiveness of Thailand’s textile and garment industries at an international level.”

.....Mr. Kawee Laksanasakulchai, fashion stylist for a top fashion magazine and one of the judges said, “The question and the concept of the contest this year required all competitors to choose their inspirational movie and bring their imagination and creativity to their sketches. The competitors must use three different types of cotton fabrics for tailoring their outfits. This is challenging because different types of fabric have totally different characteristics. However, the five young designers creatively adapted and applied different techniques to meet the challenge and designed outstanding new-look outfits. Their techniques included combining different fabric types to various parts of the outfits, using color mixtures, employing digital print techniques and adding small details to the outfits. Those creativity and techniques proved that these young designers have learned and are ready to take further steps to higher grounds in the fashion profession.”

.................Mr. T-ra Chantasawasdee, a well known fashion designer and one of the judges said that, “I congratulate all competitors for they already achieved their first step, regardless of the final results from the contest. I wish all young designers kept in mind that being a professional fashion designer needs continuously learning, development, trials and errors as well as welcoming new ideas from their surroundings. The world of fashion never stands still, thus, the more knowledge and experience we gain, the more we own precious resources that will be useful for our new creations while minimizing our mistakes.”

...........Ms. Neeranat Victoria Cotes, leading model, said that, “I wore a cotton evening gown that was inspired from Moulin Rouge, which happened to be one of my favorite Hollywood movie. At first glance, the gown looked simple. But once I wore it, I felt the designer’s attention to detail that made the gown very comfortable and made me feel confident when I wore it. It is an elegant evening cotton gown that very well suits the weather in Thailand.”
