– NBC – The Nation have successfully launched ASEAN TV on June 21st,
2011. ASEAN TV has identified its strategy as a medium for news and
information in ASEAN region, covering politics, economics, society,
culture, entertainment as well as sports. Having announced that it is
ready for 6 hours of production daily starting from June and aiming
for full airtime in October, ASEAN TV is confident in its highest quality
program from 10 different countries with teams of production experts.
It aims at capturing and gaining more audience in the near future. On
July 3, 2011, the general election day, ASEAN TV will be reporting live
from 7.30 – 9.00 a.m. and 2.00 – 8.00 pm as the first English coverage
of the general election ever on Thai TV.

official launching ceremony has been held yesterday (June 21st) at the
Four Seasons Hotel, Bangkok, in order to advocate itself as an English
TV station that offers news and update information on ASEAN countries,
covering the subjects of politics, economics, society, culture, entertainment,
sports and so forth for the people of the ASEAN countries as well as
the rest of the world. It also aims to promote a sense of unity within
the ASEAN region and connects the member countries together, which would
contribute to a strong foundation for ASEAN Community in 2015.

TV is a cooperation between MCOT PCL and Nation Broadcasting Corporation
Plc or NBC in conjunction with The Nation and Thai News Agency, combining
experiences from experts on both sides to create new dimension for news
report for the people in ASEAN. ..........Mr. Thanawat Wansom, President of MCOT PCL mentioned that the cooperation between MCOT-NBC-The Nation has combined a strong potential from the largest media network in Thailand with expert news media like NBC and The Nation. This will prove to be beneficial for programs in ASEAN TV since NBC, a subsidiary of Nation Group, is an experienced English media network behind the production of THE NATION English Newspaper and is also regarded as a leading veteran in the field. In addition, the company has a strong ally such as ANN ( Asia News Network) with members in more than 20 different countries to help in achieving popularity among people from 10 member countries. ..........“With these strong point, I am sure a new dimension in ASEAN regional TV will be accomplished” said Mr. Thanawat Mr.Suthichai Yoon, Editor in Chief of Nation Multimedia Group Plc said that NBC and The Nation will employ the capability of experienced personnel in English language media as well as TV programs to create new dimension for ASEAN TV to become an English TV Channel for news and information of the ASEAN countries, covering the subjects of politics, economics, society, culture, entertainment and sports for its member countries and the rest of the world. |

and The Nation have jointly produced TV programs with MCOT in phase
1, starting from April 2011 during Monday –Friday for 3 hours per day.
Phase 2 will start off from June 21, 2011 onwards with 6 hours of air-time,
while on phase 3, starting from October 2011 onwards, the channel will
fully operate with production time of 8-10 hours per day.
..........Programs to be broadcasted in June consist of 18 programs with duration of 6 hours. 75% of time slot will be allocated to 9 news and news talk programs while another 25% of time slot allocated to documentary programs, socio-cultural programs, traveling programs as well as the programs on food and beverages. addition, during the coming Thailand’s general election, ASEAN TV will
allocate more time slot for election news within the ASEAN News Room section
for 15 mins Mon-Fri and will arrange a debate on various topics on election
to be on air for 7 times. On the election day, both Thai News Agency and Nation Group News team will cooperate in reporting live from 7.30-9.00 am and 2.00-8.00 pm, providing the first English News Coverage on Thailand Election. ..........ASEAN TV is originated from the idea to create a strong TV media for ASEAN.
