“World Golf Salutes King Bhumibol” tournament aims to be a part of the
celebration of His Majesty the King’s Birthday and the 60th Anniversary
of His Accession to the Throne projects under Ministry of Energy. The
prestige event is sponsored by PTT Public Company Limited, PTT Exploration
and Production Public Company Limited, PTT Aromatics and Refining Public
Company Limited, PTT Chemical Public Company Limited, Thai Oil Public
Company Limited, International Research Corporation Public Company Limited
(IRPC), Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), Electricity
Generating Public Company (EGCO), Ratchaburi Electricity Generating
Holding Public Company Limited and Amata Spring Country Club. IMG, the
leading worldwide Sports, Media & Entertainment agency, is the promoter
of the event. This is the first time that major corporations in Thailand
joined hands to celebrate the special occasion of the His Majesty the
King.
...........Thai ace Thongchai Jaidee, who is the record three-time Asian tour number one, will represent Thailand and Asia as a whole when competing with 3 world class professional golfers; world no. 1 Tiger Woods of the USA, world no. 7 Paul Casey of England and world no. 26 Camilo Villegas of Columbia in a one day skins tournament “World Golf Salutes King Bhumibol”. The tournament will be held at the Amata Spring Country Club, Chonburi, Thailand on November 8th, with a total prize purse of 9 Million Thai Baht. ...........In a skins tournament the golfers play to win individual holes or "skins" in a match play format. Each hole is assigned a different value and the golfer who wins the hole with the best score outright wins the money for that hole. In the event that two or more golfers tie on a hole, the skins carry over to the next hole. The player who wins the most money, but not necessarily the most skins, is declared the winner. For the World Golf Salutes King Bhumibol” the prize purse will be divided as follows: hole’s 1-6 200,000 Baht per hole, hole’s 7-12 400,000 Baht per hole and hole’s 13-18 900,000 Baht per hole. As the tournament progresses the opportunities to win money increase, which guarantees a tight finish. As such, for the eventual champion, timing will be everything. In the event of tie on final hole, players who have scored low (to tie) on this final hole will return to 18 tee and play it again - if it is tied again. There will be a fifty yard chip off until a winner is found. Fifty yard chip-off is for nearest the pin. |
